Where can this product be used and how long will it last?
Safeguard Design is manufactured in accordance with EN 13845, the new European standard for floorcoverings with sustainable enhanced slip resistance characteristics. The abrasion resistance result to EN 13845 was over 100,000 cycles indicating an extremely high resistance to abrasive wear. The classification to EN 685 is 23/34/43. This means that it can be used in heavy use domestic areas, very heavy use commercial areas and heavy use industrial areas. Life expectancy in these areas is 10 years minimum, provided that the product is installed and maintained in accordance with Armstrong’s instructions.
Colour fastness is good, with a minimum rating of 6 to ISO 105- B02.

What about fire regulations and certification?
Flammability is tested to EN 13501-1 and the result is Bfl – s1. This means that, as a floorcovering, Safeguard Design can be used in all main areas of domestic and commercial buildings.

What about slip?
The slip resistance group is R10 to BGR 181, and when tested in accordance with EN 13845 Safeguard Design achieves both the Esf and Esb ratings. This means that it offers enhanced slip resistance in all areas where people are wearing shoes and also in areas where people may be barefoot. When tested with a pendulum to BS 7976-2, the values wet and dry are greater than 35, indicating an extremely low risk of slipping. The product has a surface roughness of Rtm greater than 20µm.

What about hygiene?
When tested in accordance with EN ISO 846 – Part C, results show that Safeguard Design provides no medium for bacterial growth.

How's the product supplied?
It’s a synthetic vinyl flooring to EN 428 and EN 426. All 8 colourways are available in 2mm. Safeguard Design comes in rolls that are 2 metres wide and 20 metres long.

Is it easy to install?
Yes, using standard installation techniques described in BS 8203. Please refer to our basic installation guide for further information. A printed version is also available on request.

Is it easy to keep clean?
Yes, the high content of PVC in the wear layer, and specially designed surface texture, mean it is easily kept clean with a simple, regular cleaning and maintenance programme. A basic maintenance guide is available from Armstrong.
